About Us

Early in 1985, California Chapter #3 was chartered under the new VTS (Venture Touring Society). In 1990 we were charted by the Southern California Motorcycling Association and in 2000 by AMA (American Motorcycling Association). In 2001 VTS officially changed its name to MTA (Motorcycling Touring Association) and we have followed their lead, becoming MTA CA #3.

The group has been in continuous existence since 1985 and has been providing an environment for friendly, safe and congenial motorcyclists to do what they enjoy most - riding motorcycles! We are a casual group that strives to provide lots of fun rides for everyone, while keeping business and structure to a minimum. Our goal is to have at least one chapter function each month. We participate in a mixture of events, including one-day Poker Rides (usually on Sundays) and weekend rides through scenic locales in the Southern California area. A few times each year, we have camping trips, or motel trips in the winter. We have participated in the annual international MTA V-Daze rally since the first event held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado 19 years ago. We have collected many long distance club trophies at V-Daze. Check out a list of these awards!

We usually hold an organizational meeting on the first Friday evening of the month at the Redondo Beach Community Center, 2000 Artesia Blvd. - 8 PM.

Originally, our chapter consisted of Yamaha Venture riders exclusively, but we are now a mixed group of motorcyclists, riding all brands of touring bikes including BMW, Harley, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki. We consist of both singles (male and female) and couples. We even have quite a few families that participate in our functions. All riders are welcome so long as they ride safely and respect others on the road.
